How To Seduce Readers With Better Type

You’re just typing out a quick flyer, email blast or internal memo, so why would you want to improve your type? Better type formatting increases readability, legibility and… well, seduction. Beautiful typography encourages people to stop and read. Better type may mean increased web traffic, sales or just may finally encourage co-workers to put those damn cover sheets on their TPS reports.

The Beauty of The Oatmeal Tin Can


John McCann’s Steel Cut Irish Oatmeal Can

I’m a fan of John McCann’s Irish Oatmeal (almost daily, around breakfast time, in fact), especially its packaging. Besides the unique tin can, what draws me in is the controlled use of two colors, black and gold. The type is not even that great but it shows its 150-year history and how it packaging used to be.
